Check out our Spartan alums who are making waves in college sports.
Congratulations to our very own Bridgitte Marin-Valencia, '22 and the UCLA Women's Soccer for winning the 2022 NCAA Women's College Cup!
Ancient Spartans strove for excellence and underwent rigorous training and education. They also learned to function as a team and to support one another in times of crisis. Spartan women enjoyed considerably more rights and greater equality to men than women elsewhere in the classical world. As Spartan women today, we aim for these same qualities and similar equity.
Sports at ICA
ICA Athletics afford students access to organized competitive sports.
ICA Athletics develop skills in sports as well as interpersonal and behavioral skills that help students thrive as contributing members of our school community.
Spartan athletes and their coaches recognize the development of athletic skills as a vital educational component, key to personal and holistic growth. Spartan athletes participate on competitive teams as a privilege and not a right.
League Memberships & Staff
ICA Cristo Rey is a part of the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) as a member of the CIF-San Francisco Section and its league, the Academic Athletic Association.
Students who wish to try out for an athletic team must meet ICA Cristo Rey, CIF, and AAA eligibility requirements.
Athletic Director Ms. Lauren Bell coordinates all athletic activities.
PE, Health, & Wellness
Our Physical Education, Health, & Wellness classes for the 2023-2024 school year
Strength and Fitness is an introductory course designed to teach students the importance of cardio and weight training. This is an introductory course where students will be expected to do 20-25 minutes of light cardio and 20-25 minutes of weight training with light weights.
Students can earn 5 credits per semester for being a team manager! Being a team manager is a huge commitment as managers are expected to attend all games for the sport that they manage. Tasks and responsibilities are assigned to the team manager by the head coach of the sport.
The ICA Dance Team is an extracurricular dance class in which students can express themselves and learn the different aspects of dance. The students in the class also perform at rallies and school events which further prepares and teaches them performative dance skills.
Our goal is to enjoy movement, enjoy our neighborhood, enjoy each other, and build stamina. In each class, we walk, tackle hills, and track our distance, then return to campus for a cool down and stretching.
