🌱 Seeds of Growth: Alexa's Corporate Work Study Experience

Foundations of Professional Growth at St. Paul’s School

During her freshman year, Alexa began developing her professional skills at St. Paul’s School. She focused on interacting with students, staff, and visitors by answering questions, assisting with tasks, and observing daily school operations. Through these experiences, she learned the importance of asking questions, building connections, and engaging in meaningful conversations. This early exposure helped Alexa gain confidence and strengthen her interpersonal skills, preparing her for future professional environments. Her dedication and strong performance also earned her the Student Associate of the Month award for her outstanding work and commitment to assisting in the classroom.

Developing Financial, Organizational, and Workplace Skills at De Anza Properties

During her sophomore and junior years, Alexa worked at De Anza Properties, gaining hands-on experience with office and property management responsibilities. Her role included filing and organizing tenant records, managing invoices, and supporting day-to-day property operations. She also handled checks for multiple apartment complexes, gaining firsthand exposure to financial processes and understanding costs associated with utilities, maintenance, and other property expenses. In her two years at De Anza Properties, Alexa developed key professional skills, including financial literacy, attention to detail, time management, and organizational ability. Managing multiple responsibilities efficiently reinforced her sense of responsibility, professionalism, and workplace confidence, preparing her for future roles in professional environments.

From Experience to Confidence: Alexa’s Senior Year at Coblentz Patch Duffy & Bass LLP

Currently in her senior year, Alexa supports office operations at Coblentz Patch Duffy & Bass LLP. A notable project she has worked on includes creating instructional guides for the IT department in an effort to help streamline office processes and improve efficiency. This experience has strengthened her organization, communication, and problem-solving skills while allowing her to work both independently and collaboratively. Through managing office operations and supporting team workflows, Alexa has developed more confidence and a strong understanding of how initiative and relationship-building contribute to long-term workplace success.

“I definitely developed confidence and communication skills. At my first CWS job placements, I was nervous to even ask questions, but I quickly realized that communication is key. I began to understand the importance of asking questions, starting conversations, and building relationships with the people I work with.”
