🌱 Seeds of Growth: Dayamin's Corporate Work Study Experience
Building Foundations in Community and Education
During her frosh and sophomore years, Dayamin worked in educational and community-based environments that introduced her to professionalism within close-knit settings. At Saint John’s Elementary School, Dayamin served as a Front Office Assistant where she supported daily administrative tasks and interacted with students, families, and staff. This role helped her understand the importance of fostering a welcoming and nurturing academic environment that supports both personal and academic growth.

She also worked with the San Francisco Historical Society (SFHS), where she helped promote historic landmarks and tours through social media outreach. Through this experience, she deepened her knowledge of San Francisco’s history and the importance of preserving cultural heritage while engaging new audiences.

At Saint James Elementary, Dayamin served as a teacher’s assistant, working directly with third and fourth grade students. She supported them with homework, assignments, and classroom activities, developing patience, adaptability, and strong communication skills. These early placements strengthened her confidence, hospitality, and ability to work responsibly within a team-oriented environment.

Exploring Business Operations and Financial Skills
During her junior year, Dayamin worked at Bon Appétit Management Company, where she gained her first hands-on experience in the business and financial field. This role helped her understand how different aspects of a company work together and the essential nature of each role in keeping operations running smoothly.

She assisted with filing invoices, which ensured accurate cash flow tracking and contributed to overall operational efficiency. Working in an office environment allowed her to develop key professional skills, including financial literacy, attention to detail, accuracy, and effective communication. The collaborative and supportive workplace also helped her strengthen soft skills, build social connections, and contribute to a sense of community within the office.

Through this experience, Dayamin learned not only the practical side of business operations but also the importance of professionalism, teamwork, and adaptability in a fast-paced, real-world setting.

Hands-On Corporate Experience and Mentorship at Kirkland & Ellis LLP
As a senior, Dayamin currently works at Kirkland & Ellis in the Information Governance Department. In this role, she assisted with organizing, reviewing, and maintaining confidential records to ensure proper document management and compliance. She gained insight into how a large law firm manages sensitive information and supports attorneys through efficient and accurate data systems.

Beyond her daily responsibilities, Kirkland provided structured online training and mentorship sessions focused on financial literacy, college readiness, banking systems, and long-term planning. Through these experiences, Dayamin developed a deeper understanding of money management, loans, and professional growth. She also connected with interns across the country, expanding her professional network and gaining insight into the many essential roles that contribute to the success of a global law firm.

Balancing academic responsibilities with professional commitments over four years significantly shaped Dayamin’s growth. Managing deadlines in both school and work strengthened her time management, accountability, and adaptability. She learned to communicate effectively, take initiative, and approach challenges with confidence. These experiences prepared her to transition into college and future careers with independence, professionalism, and a clear understanding of workplace expectations.

“CWS has strengthened my confidence and professionalism by providing me real-world exposure to workplace expectations. Over four years, I’ve learned to manage tasks independently, communicate effectively across different settings, and balance responsibilities with school. These experiences have taught me time management, flexibility, leadership and initiative skills that I can apply to college, future workplaces, and everyday life.”
