Engineering Summer Camp

ICA Cristo Rey Academy and the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering (CEE) at UC Berkeley are excited to partner on the Intro to Engineering Summer Camp in June 2026!

Through this collaboration, we will host a hands-on summer camp for girls ages 9–16, introducing them to the fundamentals of civil and environmental engineering. Campers will explore real-world engineering challenges through interactive activities, field trips, and experiential learning designed to spark curiosity and creativity.

Camp Schedule

Summer camp at ICA Cristo Rey Academy will run daily from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Extended care is available from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for an additional fee.

Standard Registration: $750
Extended Care add-on: $100/hour

Scholarship Overview

ICA Cristo Rey and UC Berkeley are able to provide financial assistance amounting to 50% – 100% of camp tuition.

Please use the scholarship application to convey your financial need and indicate your interests. Space is limited, so we request that applicants be flexible! The scholarship application will close April 13, 2026. Applications MUST be submitted by this date.

Funding for these efforts is supported by proceeds from individual donations.

Applications will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

Economic Need: We consider family income, family size, and other extenuating circumstances that could cause financial strain.
Diversity: Our intent is to broaden the range of perspective and life experience that campers bring with them to camp.
Funding: Awards will be made based on the availability of funds.

POLICY

Families with household incomes ranging between $140,000 – $250,000 are eligible to apply for partial scholarships.
Household incomes below $140,00 are eligible to apply for scholarships up to the amount of the camp.
All recipients of scholarships will pay a $150 per camper, per week deposit.
Because of our desire to assist as many families as possible, we are typically unable to provide full scholarships.
Financial assistance will be disbursed based on the applicant’s demonstrated financial need.

SELECTION PROCESS & TIMELINE

Leadership teams from ICA Cristo Rey and UC Berkeley will determine applicant eligibility for scholarships based on a thorough review of the scholarship application.
Award amounts are determined by total household income and number of residents.
We will begin accepting scholarship applications in March 2026, and will review applications on a rolling basis.
You can expect to receive a notification regarding the status of your request by April 30.
If you are approved for a scholarship, you will receive a unique link to be used for registration. After you have registered, the camp administration team will take care of the back-end logistics to finish your registration and will give you options for payment.
